Credits and usage

How credits are held, charged and refunded, which credits are spent first, and where to see every charge on the Usage page.

Before you start

  • A workspace. Current credit costs per feature are on the pricing page.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Know how a charge works

Every paid action shows its cost before you confirm. When you confirm, the credits are held; they are charged only if the work delivers a usable result.

If a generation fails, the held credits are refunded automatically one hour after the failure — you do not need to ask. Cancelling work that has not finished returns them straight away. Title options, the blog post excerpt, the image included with a new article, and publishing cost nothing.

  2. Step 2: Know which credits are spent first

Billing shows your credits in two balances:

    • Subscription Credits — your plan’s allowance, plus welcome and bonus credits. They are spent first, do not roll over, and lapse when the subscription ends.
    • Top-up Credits — from credit packs. They never expire and are kept when your plan renews, changes or ends.

Credits that are about to lapse are listed with their Expires date, so you can use them first.

  3. Step 3: See where your credits went

Open Usage in the sidebar. Last 30 days charts credits used per day, net of refunds. The Credit ledger lists every entry; filter it by Everything, Credits added, Charges, Refunds, Expired or Corrections.

Work that is still running holds its credits; they are shown as already deducted and are returned to the same balance if the job fails.

What you’ll see

You can account for every credit: what was held, charged, refunded or expired, and which balance it came from.

Troubleshooting

A generation failed but my balance did not go back up

Refunds for failed work arrive one hour after the failure. The refund then appears in the Credit ledger under Refunds.

“Not enough credits”

Your balance does not cover the action. Wait for your plan’s next allowance, or add credits — see Buy credits and change your plan.

“Generation credit limit reached”

Your workspace has committed a lot of credits to generation in a short period. The message says when you can start again. Usage shows your current position against these limits.
