Content language and region
Choose the language articles are written in and the country their readers are in — per project, per plan and per article.
Before you start
A project.
Steps
Step 1: Set the project defaults
Open the project from Projects & integrations and set Default language and Target country, then choose Save changes. New briefs, outlines, maps and articles in the project start from these.
Step 2: Inherit from your planning
An article built from an outline, a brief or a topical map topic inherits that plan’s language and country, so you do not need to set them again.
Step 3: Override for one piece of work
Every planning form has Language and Target country (a topical map calls it Target market). On the article form they are under Advanced settings. A choice there applies to that piece of work only.
Step 4: Change an existing article
In the article’s Settings panel, choose Change next to the language and pick a new Language and Target country in Change language and region.
What you’ll see
The language and region guide the writing — spelling variant, number and date conventions, and regional references — and are sent with exports and publishing so your site and screen readers know the article’s language.
Troubleshooting
I changed the article’s language but the text did not change
Nothing already written is translated. The new setting applies to future AI edits, rewrites, excerpts, image alt text, and the language sent with exports and publishing. To get the article in another language, generate a new one with that language chosen.
Changing the project default did not change my articles
A project default affects new work only. Change existing articles one by one, as above.
A language is marked “Limited”
Some languages are supported with limitations, for example word counts that are approximate. The picker labels them so you know before you choose.
