Export an article

Download any article as Markdown, HTML or plain text to use in another tool or paste into a CMS that is not connected.

Before you start

  • An article. Export is free on every plan.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open the export menu

In the article workspace, choose Export in the top bar.

  2. Step 2: Pick a format

    Under Download as, choose:

    • Markdown (.md) — for static-site generators and Markdown editors.
    • HTML (.html) — for pasting into a CMS or email tool.
    • Plain text (.txt) — the words only.
  3. Step 3: Save your changes first if asked

Export uses the last saved version. If you have unsaved changes, the dialog says You have unsaved changes and offers Save and export.

What you’ll see

The file downloads to your device, named after the article’s URL slug. It starts with the title as a heading, followed by the body; the HTML file also carries the meta description and the article’s language. Underlined text exports as plain text in Markdown, which has no underline.

Troubleshooting

My latest edits are missing from the file

Export uses the last saved version. Choose Save and export, or Save version first.

I cannot export a deleted article

Restore it from the Trash first — see Move to Trash and restore.
