Set up your workspace and first project

Describe your business, audience and voice once, and every article inherits it. This is the first thing you do after verifying your email.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Step 1: Start from your website

Setup opens on Let’s set up your content workspace. Enter your site in Your website and choose Analyze my website. We read a few public pages only, follow your robots.txt and never sign in to anything; it usually takes under a minute.

Prefer to type it yourself? Choose Enter details manually instead at any point.

  2. Step 2: Review your business profile

On Review your business profile, fill in or check each answer:

    • What does the business do? — the single biggest lever on output quality. Be specific about what you sell and to whom.
    • Who are you writing for? — a role, company type and size, rather than “marketers”.
    • Brand voice — the default tone for new articles (Professional, Conversational, Authoritative, Friendly, Technical or Playful). You can change it on any article.
    • Main products or services and Suggested topics — optional, saved with your project for reference.
    • Workspace name, First project and Website domain — one project per website you publish to.
  3. Step 3: Check the drafted answers

Answers taken from your website carry a Draft from badge with your site’s address. Nothing is saved until you confirm, and anything you change is marked Edited. Choose Continue when every answer is right.

  4. Step 4: Confirm language and country

On Confirm and create your workspace, choose the Default language your articles are written in and the Target country your readers are in. Both can be changed later in the project’s settings.

    Choose Confirm and create workspace.

What you’ll see

Your workspace and first project are created and you are taken to the Dashboard. The project appears under Projects & integrations in the sidebar, where you can edit its profile at any time.

Troubleshooting

I am sent to “Check your inbox” instead of setup

Setup needs a verified email address. Open the verification email, or send yourself a new link from that page.

“We couldn’t read that website” or only some answers were drafted

Some sites block automated readers in robots.txt, respond slowly, or render their text with JavaScript only. Fill in the remaining fields yourself — the result is the same.

“This website already has a free account”

Each website can have one free account. If it is yours, sign in to that account instead; if a colleague set it up, ask them to invite you. If you own the domain, choose Get my DNS record, add the TXT record at your DNS provider, then choose Check and create my workspace.

“Choose a plan to start generating”

Your workspace is ready either way. Choose a plan from Billing when you are ready to generate — see Credits and usage.

  • Generate your first article

The shortest path from a keyword to a finished, editable draft: enter a keyword, pick a title, confirm, and open the draft.

  • Content language and region

Choose the language articles are written in and the country their readers are in — per project, per plan and per article.

  • Create and use brand voices

A brand voice is a name and a page of guidelines describing how your articles should sound. Set one as the project default, or pick one per article or Autopilot schedule.
