Add internal links

Find places where this article should link to your other articles or to pages on your site, and apply the links you agree with.

Before you start

  • At least one other article in the same project, or a sitemap added to the project (below).

  • Credits for an analysis — the cost is shown on the button. An analysis with nothing to compare against is not charged.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Add your sitemap (optional, owners and admins)

Open the project from Projects & integrations. In the Sitemap panel, enter your Sitemap URL and choose Save sitemap. It must be on the project’s domain or one of its subdomains.

Pages listed in it become candidates for link suggestions. Nothing is linked until you apply a suggestion. Use Refresh now after publishing new pages, or Remove sitemap to stop using it.

  2. Step 2: Analyse the article

In the article, open Links. Under Analyse internal links, choose Find link opportunities. It compares this article against the others in the project (and your sitemap pages) and suggests where a link would genuinely help a reader.

  3. Step 3: Apply or dismiss each suggestion

Each suggestion shows the anchor text and the target. Check the link address — for articles it is pre-filled from the target’s slug, so adjust it to match how your site routes. Choose Apply link to add it as a new version, or Dismiss.

  4. Step 4: Re-analyse after big changes

After writing more articles in the project, choose Re-analyse to look again.

What you’ll see

Applied links appear in the article body and are listed in Links with every other link in the article. Each applied link creates a new version, so it can be undone from History.

Troubleshooting

“Nothing to link to yet”

There are no other articles in this project and no sitemap pages. Write another article in the project or add a sitemap, then come back — you are not charged for an analysis with nothing to suggest.

My sitemap is refused

The sitemap must be on the project’s own domain or a subdomain, and publicly reachable. Check the URL opens in a browser without signing in.

A page from my sitemap is never suggested

A page is suggested only after we check it is live, indexable and not redirected elsewhere, and only when it is relevant to the article.
