Edit a passage with AI, or rewrite the whole article

Ask the AI to rewrite, clarify, shorten, expand or retone a selection, or rewrite the entire article — and review every change before it is kept.

Before you start

  • An article open in the workspace.

  • Credits. An AI edit is priced by the number of words you select, and a full rewrite has its own price; the exact cost is shown before you confirm. See the pricing page.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Select a passage

    Select a sentence, a paragraph or a whole section. Then press Ctrl+J (⌘J on a Mac), or open Assistant and choose Ask AI about the selection.

  2. Step 2: Choose what to do

    Pick an action: Rewrite, Improve clarity, Shorten, Expand, Fix grammar, Change tone…, Optimise for “your keyword”, or Custom instruction… to describe the change in your own words.

    Choose Run · … to start. The selection stays highlighted while the AI works.

  3. Step 3: Review the suggestion

    When it is ready, Review suggestion shows the change. Choose Accept to apply it as a new version, or Cancel to leave the article as it was. Nothing changes until you accept.

  4. Step 4: Rewrite the whole article (optional)

    In Assistant, under Rewrite the whole article, answer What should change? — Improve SEO, Improve clarity, Shorten, Expand or Change tone (with a New tone) — and add any extra instructions.

    Choose Rewrite for … credits. A rewrite works from the saved article and usually takes a few minutes. The current version stays in History; when Your rewrite is ready appears you can review the changes and restore the previous version if you prefer it.

What you’ll see

Accepted edits and finished rewrites appear in the article as new versions in History, so any of them can be undone by restoring the version before it.

Troubleshooting

“Select some text in the article first, then ask again.”

An AI edit needs a selection. Highlight the passage you want changed, then try again.

I cancelled a suggestion but was still charged

An AI edit is charged when the AI returns a result, not when you accept it, because the work happens either way. A request that fails is refunded in full.

The passage changed while the AI was working

If the passage you selected was deleted or moved out of reach, the suggestion is not applied by guessing. Select the text again and rerun the action.
